2024 Round 2 Voucher Award Update

Connecticut’s e-bike rebate program is part of the CHEAPR initiative, a state-sponsored effort to promote clean transportation options. The program offers financial incentives to make electric bikes more affordable for residents. By reducing the upfront cost of e-bikes, the program aims to reduce carbon emissions, alleviate traffic congestion, and promote healthier lifestyles.

Rebate Amount

Round 2 eBike vouchers are available at two incentive levels:

1. Standard Voucher

Connecticut residents, 18 years or older, are able to apply for and redeem a voucher, of up to $500, at a participating Connecticut based eBike retailer to reduce the total purchase price of an eligible eBike.

Note: You must have applied for your voucher through the eBike Incentive Program platform prior to making your eBike purchase. The application period for Round 2 is now closed.

2. Voucher+ for Qualifying Connecticut Residents

An additional $750 Voucher+ incentive (for a total incentive of $1,250) also is available to Connecticut residents who meet any of the following criteria:

  1. Participate in a state or federal income-qualifying program.
  2. Have an income less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
  3. Reside in an Environmental Justice (EJ) community, which is defined as low-income U.S census block group, or a Distressed Municipality.

Important Note: Individual buyers must purchase from a participating retailer in Connecticut. Please check with the retailer to ensure eligibility before making a purchase.

Who is Eligible?

The Connecticut e-bike rebate program is open to all residents of the state who meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must provide proof of Connecticut residency (e.g., a driver’s license or utility bill).
  • Your household income must fall within the specified limits to qualify for additional income-based incentives.

How to Apply for the Rebate?

Applying for the e-bike rebate is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide based on the official CHEAPR Electric Bicycles webpage:

1. Find a Participating Retailer

Since the rebate is applied through participating e-bike dealers, individual buyers should first check with local Connecticut e-bike retailers to ensure eligibility. Only purchases from approved dealers qualify for the rebate.

I’m thinking of buying my first e-bike! I ride my giant 29 mountain bike daily! I will be researching your Reindeer 2.0! I like what I see so far! I will need to talk to someone when the time comes! I would like to know the size of the tire?
