Why We Built E-COZY: Rethinking What an Electric Trike Should Feel Like

For many riders, the answer is not another 100 watts of power.

It is feeling comfortable when they sit down. Feeling steady when they start moving. Feeling in control when they need to stop.

And knowing that getting on, riding, turning, parking, and getting back off does not have to feel difficult.

That became the idea behind E-COZY.

We did not build it simply to be another electric trike.

We built it around three things riders experience every time they ride:

1. We Started With the Rider, Not the Spec Sheet

Electric bike marketing often begins with numbers.

750W. Battery capacity. Torque. Range.

Those numbers matter. An electric trike still needs enough power, battery capacity, and range to handle everyday riding.

But specifications do not explain how a trike feels when you are actually sitting on it.

They do not tell you:

• How easy it is to reach the handlebars
• How much effort it takes to squeeze the brakes
• Whether bumps travel through the seat into your back
• How the trike feels during a slow turn
• Whether backing out of a garage feels simple or frustrating
• Whether you still feel comfortable after 30 or 40 minutes of riding

Those questions became more important to us than simply building the biggest number on a specification sheet.

E-COZY still delivers the performance most everyday riders need, including a 750W rear hub motor, V-Adapt™ torque-sensing pedal assistance, and up to 70 miles of pedal-assist range.

But performance was the foundation.

It was not the entire purpose of the bike.

2. Comfort Should Feel Natural

A comfortable ride does not start when the motor turns on.

It starts when you get on the trike.

For riders who do not want to lift their leg high over a traditional bicycle frame, even mounting the bike can become the first obstacle.

That is why E-COZY uses a 14.8-inch low step-through frame.

We wanted getting on and off the trike to feel like part of the experience, not something a rider has to work around.

A More Relaxed Riding Position

One of the biggest design decisions behind E-COZY was the riding position.

Most bicycles place the rider in a relatively traditional upright position. Depending on the geometry, that can still put pressure on the wrists, shoulders, hips, or lower back over time.

E-COZY takes a different approach.

Its geometry creates a semi-recumbent-inspired riding position, allowing the rider to sit slightly farther back with a more relaxed upper body and forward pedaling position.

Because every rider's body is different, E-COZY also includes an adjustable stem, helping riders adjust handlebar position and reach.

Comfort should adjust to the rider—not the other way around.

Comfort Is More Than a Soft Seat

A large saddle alone does not make a trike comfortable.

Road vibration reaches the rider through the front wheel, handlebars, frame, tires, and seat.

So we approached comfort as a complete system.

Individually, these features may sound small.

Together, they change how the entire trike feels.

3. Safety Is About Control

When people hear the word “safety,” they often think about simply adding more equipment.

We think safety starts with control.

Can you stop easily?

Can other people understand where you are going?

Can you maneuver the trike comfortably at low speed?

Can assistance arrive smoothly instead of unexpectedly?

Those questions influenced several E-COZY features.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes

E-COZY uses hydraulic disc brakes to provide smoother braking modulation with less hand effort than a typical mechanical cable system.

That matters during ordinary situations such as approaching an intersection, riding downhill, carrying groceries, or making repeated stops around town.

Turn Signals and Lighting

E-COZY includes integrated turn signals to help riders communicate their direction more clearly when sharing roads and public spaces.

Its lighting system also helps improve visibility while riding.

Reverse Mode

Reverse mode may sound like a minor feature on a specification sheet.

Once you live with a three-wheel bike, it starts making much more sense.

A trike is wider and heavier than a traditional bicycle. Pulling it out of a garage, backing away from a wall, repositioning it in a driveway, or adjusting its position with a loaded rear basket can require more physical effort than expected.

E-COZY's reverse assist was included to make those everyday moments easier.

Because independence is not only about riding forward.

4. Stability Is More Than Three Wheels

Three wheels give a trike a different type of stability from a traditional bicycle.

But simply adding a third wheel does not automatically create a comfortable handling experience.

Real-world stability depends on several things working together:

• Frame geometry
• Weight distribution
• Tire width
• Riding position
• Turning behavior
• Braking control

Why the Differential Matters

When a trike turns, the inside and outside rear wheels travel different distances.

That is why E-COZY uses a rear differential.

The differential allows the two rear wheels to rotate at different speeds during a turn, helping the trike corner more naturally.

For the rider, the engineering itself is not really the point.

The feeling is.

A turn should feel predictable. A slow maneuver should not feel awkward.

A three-wheel bike should make you think less about balancing the machine—and more about where you want to go.

Wider 20×3.0 Tires

E-COZY also uses 20×3.0 tires, adding cushioning while helping create a more planted everyday riding feel.

Together with the riding position, suspension, braking system, and differential, the goal is a trike that feels calm and predictable in ordinary use.

5. Enough Power for Everyday Freedom

We could have built E-COZY around the largest battery or the biggest motor number we could advertise.

That was not the goal.

Instead, we wanted enough performance to support the kinds of rides E-COZY was actually designed for.

The 750W rear hub motor assists with daily riding, while the V-Adapt™ torque sensor changes assistance based on how much effort the rider applies to the pedals.

That creates a more natural relationship between rider and motor.

Pedal gently, and assistance stays gentle.

Push harder, and the motor responds.

Combined with a 48V 15Ah battery, E-COZY provides up to 70 miles of pedal-assist range and up to 40 miles using throttle.

For most everyday riding, that means enough range for neighborhood trips, grocery runs, parks, farmers markets, community rides, and longer recreational outings.

6. Built for Everyday Life

We wanted E-COZY to be useful when riding becomes part of daily life.

That means carrying things.

Groceries. A jacket. A picnic. Personal belongings. Things picked up at a farmers market.

With a 450 lbs total payload capacity, rear cargo space, and a folding frame, E-COZY is designed to support more than recreational riding.

A comfortable electric trike should not only make a Sunday afternoon enjoyable.

It should make an ordinary Tuesday easier too.

7. How E-COZY Compares With Other Popular Electric Trikes

We did not design E-COZY in isolation.

Electric trike riders today have more choices than ever, and different models are built around different priorities.

Some focus on compact storage. Others emphasize battery capacity, maximum advertised range, or utility-focused transportation.

E-COZY takes a different approach.

Its priorities remain centered around:

• Comfort — how the rider feels before, during, and after the ride
• Safety — braking, visibility, maneuverability, and easier control
• Stability — predictable handling and a more relaxed three-wheel riding experience

That does not mean E-COZY compromises on everyday performance.

Its 750W motor, torque-sensing pedal assistance, practical range, folding frame, and cargo capacity provide the functionality most riders need for daily use.

The difference is where we chose to put additional attention.

8. What We Hope E-COZY Makes Possible

The reason we built E-COZY is bigger than any individual feature.

It came from a simple observation:

People do not stop wanting to go places just because riding a traditional bicycle becomes less comfortable.

They still want to:

• Visit friends
• Ride around the neighborhood
• Go to the park
• Pick up groceries
• Spend time outside
• Explore somewhere new
• Feel independent

The vehicle may need to change.

The desire to keep living does not.

That is what E-COZY is meant to support.

Not maximum speed.
